- This movie is an example of a “biopic”. “Bio” is short for “biography”, which is the story of someone’s life. “Pic” comes from “picture”, a word sometimes used for “movie” or “Film”. What other “biopics” have you seen? Were they 100% true? Or was some of it imagination? How do you know?

Sample Answer
✔ The War of the Currents was a battle between Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse over whether AC or DC electricity was better. Edison believed DC was safer, but Westinghouse and Tesla showed that AC was more efficient for sending electricity over long distances. This competition was exciting because it changed how we use electricity today. I think this story shows how competition and innovation can drive progress. The movie about this war is a biopic, and like many biopics, it probably added some drama to make the story more interesting.
