The First Phone Call

¹Something special happened In 1876 in Boston. ²A man named Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. ³A person could talk to another person even if they were in a distant place. ⁴On March 10th of that year, Bell made the very first telephone call in history. ⁵He called his assistant. ⁶His assistant's name was Thomas Watson. ⁷Bell said, Mr. Watson, come here. ⁸I want to see you." ⁹Watson was in another room, but he could hear Bell's voice through the telephone. ¹⁰This was an amazing moment because it proved that the telephone actually functioned; in other words, it worked! ¹¹People all over the world were amazed by this invention. ¹²They started using telephones to talk to each other. ¹³From that day forward, the world was never the same.
