Questions with 'how' are slightly different than other information questions. There are four ways to make questions using 'how'. Two of these ways are used to ask about quantity (how much, how many).

How + many + plural count noun How many oranges did you take?
How many people can fit in this car?
How old is this violin?
How + much + noun count noun How much money do you make every year?
How much does this jacket cost?
How much coffee do you drink each day?
How + adjective How important is this essay?
