5.2.3 Negative of 'Future in the Past'
To make the Negative of future in the past verb forms: Start with helping verb 'would' + not + main verb.
Use the same formation for I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they.
Example:
We knew that we would not finish the project on time.
OR the verb BE 'was/were' + not + 'going to' + main verb.
Use the appropriate verb 'BE' for each pronoun (i.e. I was not going to finish, you were not going to finish).
Example:
We knew that we were not going to finish the project on time.
