Using the Perfect Continuous Tense for Time

The primary function of the Perfect Continuous tense is to emphasise the duration of an action. It answers the question “How long?” and connects a period of time to a specific reference point.

• Since + starting point – to indicate when the action began.

• Present Perfect Continuous: Past → Present
  The action started in the past and continues up to now.
