1. Classification of Sentences According to Purpose
Phân loại Câu Theo Mục đích
- A declarative sentence is one that states, or declares, something.
Câu trần thuật là câu kể, hoặc tuyên bố một điều gì đó.
- An interrogative sentence is one that asks a question.
Câu nghi vấn là câu dùng để hỏi.
- An imperative sentence is one that expresses a command or an entreaty.
Câu mệnh lệnh là câu diễn đạt một mệnh lệnh hoặc một lời cầu xin.
- An exclamatory sentence is one that expresses sudden or strong feeling.
Câu cảm thán là câu diễn tả cảm xúc đột ngột hoặc mạnh mẽ.
2. Classification of Sentences According to Structure
Phân loại Câu Theo Cấu trúc
- A simple sentence is one that contains but one independent clause.
Câu đơn là câu chỉ chứa một mệnh đề độc lập.
- A compound sentence is one that contains two or more independent clauses.
Câu ghép là câu chứa hai hoặc nhiều mệnh đề độc lập.
- A complex sentence is one that contains one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses.
Câu phức là câu chứa một mệnh đề độc lập và một hoặc nhiều mệnh đề phụ thuộc.
