  • understand the main ideas in paragraphs in order to match headings to sections of text
  • use the past simple, past perfect simple and past perfect continuous correctly
  • recognise synonyms in texts and headings.

A common topic in IELTS is travel and transport. With a partner, match the words and phrases 1-10 with definitions a-j. Then write FOUR sentences, each sentence using ONE word or phrase from 1-10.
