Davy’s Hat

Davy Crockett had a very cold head. “I need a hat to keep my head warm,” he said. “I
walk outside, and the wind chills my head.”
The animals ran over to him and offered to be Davy’s new hat. “Pick me! Pick me!”
cried Cat.
Davy set Cat on his head. “Ouch!” he said. “Your claws are too sharp.”
Bird waved her wing. “Pick me! Pick me!” Davy set Bird on his
head. “Brrr!” he cried. “Your feathers do not keep me warm.”
Then Davy saw a round bundle of fur. It was asleep by a rock.
“Who is that?” he asked the animals.
“That’s Raccoon,” they said.
Davy picked up Raccoon, and he put him on his head. “Soft and
warm,” Davy said. “I have found the perfect hat.”
Raccoon just yawned and went back to sleep.
