The Airplane

Bill wanted to see his grandparents, but there was a problem. They lived in New York. He lived in Oregon. Bill was afraid to fly in an airplane.
“It’s fun,” said George. “It’s like being a bird.”
“You can have whatever you want to drink on an airplane,” said Lola. “Even soda!”
“It’s too high,” Bill said. “I like to be on the ground.”
Then one day, Grandpa invited Bill for his birthday. “I will pay for your plane ticket,” he said.
Bill tried to be brave. He walked behind his parents up to the plane. He sat down in his seat. Then, the plane took off. Bill’s hands were wet with sweat. But outside, he saw fluffy white clouds. They were pretty! A woman brought him ginger ale. Flying wasn’t so scary after all!
