The Computer

Everyone at Jonah’s school had a computer. They knew how to play games on it.
They knew how to type. They even knew how to listen to music on their computer.
“We can’t afford a new computer right now,” said Dad.
But Jonah came up with a plan. “Dad didn’t say anything about an old computer,” he
thought.
Jonah mowed the lawn for Mrs. Sanchez. He walked Mr. Frank’s dog. He weeded the
Smiths’ flower bed. He saved money in his piggy bank.
Finally, he asked Dad to drive to the used computer store.
“The owner takes people’s old computers and cleans them
up,” Jonah said. “Then he sells them for a little money.”
“But how will we pay for it?” Dad asked.
Jonah shook his piggy bank full of quarters and dimes and
nickels. “I worked hard and saved money,” he said proudly.
