School Mice

Missy loved mice. She had two in her room. She gave them food and water every day. When it was time for school, she cried. She didn’t want to leave her mice.
One day, the teacher gave a test. The students were very quiet. Everyone was writing. Then, they heard a scratching sound. The teacher looked up. “What is that?” she asked.
But nobody knew. Then, they heard a squeaking sound. “What is that?” asked the teacher. But nobody knew!
The teacher walked around the classroom. She listened for sounds. She heard a rustle. She heard a squeal. The sounds came from Missy’s coat. The teacher reached into the pocket. “What is this?” she cried.
There in Missy’s coat pocket sat two little mice. “I missed them,” said Missy. “They wanted to come to school!”
