Planet Cat

John stepped out of the spaceship, and Cat Leader shook his hand. “Nice to meet you,” she said. “Welcome to Planet Cat.”

John looked around. A cat put down a bowl of milk. A boy licked it with his tongue. Another cat brushed a girl’s long ponytail. “What is going on here?” John cried.

Cat Leader purred. “Here, we keep boys and girls as pets.”

Then John saw a cat toss a ball of yarn. A girl chased it. He saw another cat put a bell around a boy’s arm. “This is so you cannot catch birds,” said the cat.

John got back into his spaceship. He headed home to Earth. His cat greeted him at the front door. He gave her a bowl of milk and brushed her fur. “I’m glad you are my pet,” he said.
