Daily Warm-Ups Reading - Grade 1 (Nonfiction 3 - Science)

Stars

Do you ever wish on the first star at night? Do you sleep under the stars when you go camping? Can you name any stars?

A star is made up of a glowing ball of gas. It is born when a cloud of gas becomes very hot. Some stars are billions of years old. Small stars live longer than big stars.

Our sun is a star. It is the closest star to Earth. It is a medium-sized star. Most stars occur in groups of two. Big groups of stars are called clusters. A cluster can hold 1,000 stars. That is a lot of wishes!
