Slow Worm and the Quail

Brianna was a worm. She was very slow but always finished what she started. Brianna loved to be with her friends. She loved to read, and she loved to write and do math.

Allyssa lived in the next house. She was a quail. Allyssa ran very fast. She was in a hurry all the time and made many mistakes. Her life was busy, busy, busy.

On Monday, they went to the park for a picnic.

“Let’s have race,” said Allyssa.
“I think that would be a great idea,” said Brianna. “I am sure I can beat you.”
“No way!” yelled Allyssa. “I am very fast!”
“We will see,” said Brianna. “We will see.”

On Tuesday, the animals came to the park. Allyssa had on a new gym suit. Brianna had on new running shorts. They were ready for the race.

“Good luck,” said the judge.
“Good luck,” said their friends.
