Band-Aids
In 1920, Eva went over to her friend’s house. She had made a fresh pie. Eva knocked
on the door. Mrs. Dickson asked Eva to come in. She was baking, too. As she was
cutting the apple, Mrs. Dickson cut her finger. It started to bleed. She put a wet cloth
on the cut finger.
Eva put the pie on the table. She asked, “May I help you, Mrs. Dickson?”
“No, Eva. I am always cutting myself,” she said. “My husband, Mr. Dickson has made a
new kind of cloth just for me. I think I will put on one of the new cloths now.”
“Where is the cloth?” asked Eva.
“It is over there in that small tin box. It says, ‘Band-Aids’ on it,” she said.
“I found it,” said Eva. Eva opened the box. She took out one of the Band-Aids®. Eva
watched. Mrs. Dickson peeled off the back. She stuck the small cloth on her finger.
“That is much better,” said Mrs. Dickson. “I think these cloths will work very well.”
“Do you think he would make some for me?” asked Eva.
“I think he might,” she said with a smile. “Why don’t we ask him now!”
