Yucky

“School is yucky. Recess is yucky. Teachers are yucky. Today is yucky!” yelled Rachel. She sat down on the playground and started to cry.
“What is wrong, Rachel?” asked Payton. “Why are you crying?”
“Go away. Leave me alone.”
“But, Rachel, I am your friend.”
“Go away! I don’t want to talk to anybody now. It is a bad day!”
“I am your friend. I will not go away. I will sit with you in the dirt. I will listen to your stories. I will cry with you.”
Rachel stood up, “Go away! I do not want any friends. I want to cry! I want to be sad! I want to punch my brother!”
“Why do you want to punch your brother?” asked Payton.
“He put my homework in the dog dish last night. The dogs ate it. They ate all of my spelling words. The only word left was from.”
Payton started to laugh. She started to giggle. Her lips were moving and bubbles were coming out of her mouth.
“What is so funny?” asked Rachel.
Payton laughed, “I guess the dogs needed those words more than you did! What a tasty treat!”
