The Moon
Our class wanted to go on a field trip. Our teacher, Mr. F, said our class could go.
“Where do you want to go?” he asked.
“I want to go to the zoo,” said John.
“I want to go to the park,” said Lisa.
We all wanted to go many places. He wrote the list on the board—zoo, park, and beach.
Jenna raised her hand, “I want to go to the moon.”
We all laughed. Only astronauts go to the moon.
“We will keep it a secret,” said Mr. F. “If we are to go on this trip, we all have to work
hard. We all have to do chores. We all have to bring money.”
“Okay,” we said.
Tommy cleaned the yard. Sally swept the floor. Lisa scrubbed the bathroom. John
cleaned the doors. We all brought our money to Mr. F.
The day before the field trip, he told us to pack a bag. “Bring a toothbrush, toothpaste,
and two pairs of pants. You will need a jacket and two shirts. Be ready by 7 A.M. Meet
me at the school.”
We were all at school early with our bags. Mr. F. was there, too.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
He smiled, “We’re going on a field trip to the moon!”
