Martians

A loud noise hit the roof. Sandy jumped out of bed. Her head hit the top of the bed. She got a big bump. Her slippers were missing.

“Ouch! What was that noise?” she asked.

Bump. Bump. Thud. The noise came again. Sandy went to the window. She tried to open it. She pushed and pushed. It would not open.

Sandy went to the door of her house. She tried to open it. She pushed and pushed. It would not open.

“Whatever is the matter?” She went to the phone. She called her mother.

Her mother was sleeping. She woke up when the phone rang.

“Hello.”
“Mother, something is outside the house. I cannot open the windows or doors.”
“Look through the glass. I think there are huge Martians with wings on their backs outside,” said Mother. “Show them a big smile and see if they are friendly.”
Sandy went to the window and saw one of the Martians. She smiled really big and watched to see what they would do.

One Martian flew to the window and opened it for Sandy. Then he flew to the door and opened it. He shook her hand and then flew back to the top of the roof where his spaceship was parked.

“Wow! Martians can be friendly and helpful!” Sandy said to herself.
