Jellybeans and Me

“Hey, Buster, come look out the window,” said my brother.
“Why?” I asked. My new book was too good. It was called
Jellybeans and Me.
“Come here now!” he yelled. “You have to see this.”
I put my book down on the couch. I walked to the window to look outside.
“What is it?” I asked.
“Look outside. Look next door.”
“Holy Cow! Mom, come and look outside!” I yelled.
“Oh, my,” said Mom. “We should call the police right away.” She went
to the phone to dial 911.
“Hello,” said the voice.
“Hello,” said my mother. “I think you had better come to our house
right away.”
“What is wrong?” asked the voice. “How can I help?”
“There are jellybeans next door. They are blue, green, and yellow. They have legs, arms,
and heads. These jellybeans have eyes and hats. I can see a big moving van. It looks
like they are moving into the house next door. They have many boxes and bags.”
“Do they look dangerous?”
“I don’t know. They are just jellybeans.”
“Lady, are you okay? Do you have a fever? Do you need a doctor?” the voice asked.
“Yes, I think I am okay. Please come now! I don’t want neighbors that are jellybeans,”
said mother.
I smiled.
