The Stolen Bike

Chris ran to the door of the school building. He couldn’t wait to get home. He knew his trading cards would be in the mailbox waiting for him. He came to a screeching halt at the bike rack and scanned the bikes looking for his bike.

“What?” cried Chris. He couldn’t see his bike anywhere. He searched and searched again, but he couldn’t find his bike. Anger raged through his body as he made his way to the principal’s office. He couldn’t believe someone had the nerve to steal his bike.

After he reported the crime, he hurried home. Chris tore the package open and began sifting through the cards. Just then, his friend called to see if he could meet him at the park for baseball. Chris set out on foot towards the park. “Oh! This makes me so mad! I wish I had my bike.”

The next morning Chris got a ride to school. After school, he walked home. It was a hot walk home without the bike.

“They found your bike,” his mother stated calmly.

“What? Where?” asked Chris.

“It’s in the garage where you left it,” said Mom.

“No way!” said Chris.

He threw open the garage door, only to find his bike gleaming up at him. Chris was thrilled and embarrassed. That night over dinner, he shared the story and a laugh with his family.
