In a Daze

Matt raced down the soccer field and passed the ball to Craig at the very last second. Craig kicked the ball and sent it sailing into the net. Score! Craig and Matt threw their hands into the air and bounced off each other’s chest. This had been a great season so far! All the work Matt and Craig had done over the summer was definitely paying off!

Matt worked his way down the field and looked for Craig. Where was he? Matt continued to dribble the ball with his feet, but he was stalling. How long before the opposing team stole it from him? Matt did some more fancy footwork but a player from the other team got a good piece of the soccer ball. Matt lurched after the ball, but it was too late.

Matt looked around for Craig, but he couldn’t see him anywhere. Playing soccer without Craig just didn’t seem right! Matt’s eyes scanned the crowd as he looked. He couldn’t find his coach anywhere either. Matt was an avid soccer player and lived for the game, but right now his thoughts were not on the field.

“Get out of the way, speed bump!” a player from the other team called. Matt seemed dazed and stumbled out of the way. Where was Craig? Where was his coach?

By now the fans realized that Matt was not focusing on the game!

“What are you doing? Get in there!” yelled one of the fans.

The other team shouted for joy as they made a goal. Matt spun around and felt dizzy.
