First practise the target sound /k/ in words from the dialogue, plus some others. Read the words aloud or visit the website to practise.

/k/ is LOUD before a vowel.

/k/ is also quite LOUD before ‘I‘ and ‘r‘.

/k/ is often quiet at the end of a word.

What happens when the next word begins with a vowel? Do the two words join together? Is the /k/ louder or quieter?

Notice what happens when a quiet /k/ at the end of a word is followed by a louder lk/ at the beginning of the next word. Make the two sounds different. There can be a slight pause between the two sounds.
