MEMO

To: Wanda Morton and 9 others
From: Clifford Sanders, External Communications Specialist
Date: October 18
Subject: Bauer Mountain wind farm

In advance of Thursday’s press conference on the project’s status, I would like to issue the following reminder to members of the Renewable Energy Team and Media Relations Department. Since Ms. Trevino has designated me as our organizational spokesperson on the Bauer Mountain wind farm, I must be the one to handle media inquiries on the subject. Please pass this information on to any reporters who contact you. As you all know, the project continues to face some amount of opposition from members of the community for its possible impact on tourism. For that reason, it is crucial that our organization avoid making any remarks that are not informed by both expertise on the project and sensitivity to public opinion.

GLEASON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (GIA)

NEWS & NOTICES

Announcement Regarding Misplaced Baggage

Following the recent delay or cancellation of many flights due to winter weather, GIA has accumulated several hundred pieces of misplaced baggage. The baggage is currently being kept securely in a temporary enclosure on our second floor, near the Domestic Departures Information Desk.
As the location and delivery of misplaced baggage is ultimately the airline's responsibility, owners of lost bags should begin by filing a report with their airline. However, in order to ensure that the baggage is dispersed in a timely fashion, we are also allowing people to search for their bags themselves. To do so, bring your airline ticket and luggage tag, along with a valid form of identification, to the entrance of the enclosure. A staff member will check your documentation and then escort you inside to search. If you have questions about this process, please call our Customer Support Team at 555-0176.

Rudra Agarwal [10:57 a.m.]
Marie, how's it going at Chicmode this morning?
Marie Everett [11:03 a.m.]
Very well! I've just finished looking over drawings of some potential pieces for the line, and their design team’s done a good job of capturing the essence of the Giga Cola brand.
Rudra Agarwal [11:04 a.m.]
Really? How so?
Marie Everett [11:05 a.m.]
Well, my favorite piece is a sweatshirt that displays our logo on a background of squares in different sizes and colors. It’s very playful. And I think it will appeal to a lot of people, not just our customers.
Rudra Agarwal [11:07 a.m.]
That’s great. Actually, our social media team just sent a report on reactions to the announcement of the line, and it's very encouraging. Four out of five comments have been positive. I’m feeling really confident about our decision to collaborate with Chicmode.

Dear Ms. Myers,
Attached you will find the manuscript for Danilo Costa’s Delicious Portugal. As we discussed, I need you to try out three of the recipes yourself and write a short report on the clarity and completeness of their instructions. Mr. Costa has assured me that all of his recipes were tested by non-professional cooks as required in his contract, but it’s important that an independent tester confirm their quality before we proceed with publication. Please include the recipe for custard tarts, on page 290, among those you test. As the introductory paragraph to that recipe explains, these have been one of Portugal’s most famous foods for centuries. Reviewers will be paying special attention to it.
Please complete this assignment by the end of the day on Sunday, July 5, and don’t forget to provide images of your receipts for any ingredient purchases. A check for your $300 fee plus reimbursement for expenses will then be sent out within 14 days.
Thanks,

Eleanor, Dazzle Home Goods wants to know if our warehouse can store 18 extra pallets of furniture parts from this afternoon until Thursday morning. They need time to resolve a distribution issue.
Eleanor Soto [9:37 a.m.]
We're pretty close to capacity right now. I'll have to check.
Stanley Bowman [9:39 a.m.]
Thanks. You know, this could help make up for that pallet of Dazzle lamps we misplaced last month.
Eleanor Soto [9:40 a.m.]
That's true, but taking on more inventory than we can hold could also lead to more mistakes. OK, I'm back in my office now. Let me open up the warehouse management software.
Stanley Bowman [9:44 a.m.]
And? Can we do it?
Eleanor Soto [9:45 a.m.]
You're in luck. A big shipment for Varney Paints is set to go out at noon, which leaves the north end of Stack 7B empty for a few days.
Stanley Bowman [9:46 a.m.]
Excellent! What loading docks should I have Dazzle send its trucks to?
Eleanor Soto [9:47 a.m.]
How many trucks will there be, and what time will they arrive?
Stanley Bowman [9:48 a.m.]
Two trucks, sometime between 3 and 3:30.
Eleanor Soto [9:49 a.m.]
OK, I'll enter the information into the system and let you know about the loading docks in a few minutes.

Questions 176-180 refer to the following article and e-mail.

LOS ANGELES (May 3)—Connection Studios has hired Australian Lucas Pearce to direct its upcoming film Black Door. Mr. Pearce gained widespread attention this spring with his debut feature, The Farm, a terrifying ghost tale that received glowing reviews. Black Door, which will star Tamara Burns, is a psychological thriller set in a hospital. With a budget of $8 million, it represents a significant increase in scale for Mr. Pearce, as The Farm reportedly cost just $700,000 to make.
According to the press release issued by Connection, Black Door will begin shooting in November and is scheduled to arrive in theaters in October of next year. The studio also indicated plans to screen the film a few months earlier at the Fleming Film Festival that summer, presumably hoping that positive reviews from attendees will build anticipation among audiences.

Date: August 29
Subject: Black Door
Attachment: Feedback

Dear Lucas,
My assistant has compiled the attached feedback on Black Door from those who attended its premiere screening at the Sutton Film Festival. It includes official reviews as well as social media reactions from influential members of the industry.
As you may already know, there was a lot of praise for the movie’s sense of atmosphere, but also widespread agreement that its pace is sluggish. Several people mentioned that the scenes about the main character’s son, in particular, take up a lot of time without being relevant to the plot.
Given this response, we would like you to work with the editor to cut as many of those scenes as possible. When you’re finished, I’ll arrange a test screening for the other producers and studio executives. I hope that you’ll be able to work quickly and that no additional filming will be necessary. We want to keep our scheduled release date of October 7 so that Black Door will have a full week in theaters before Artifact comes out, as there are rumors that it will be stiff competition for us.

Hello,
I am contacting your business by e-mail because I cannot seem to reach you via phone; each time I call the number listed on your Web site, a message says it is “unavailable.” I am seeking a coworking business in Haywood from which I can work remotely for a few weeks while dealing with a family matter. I would need a private office and the use of two large computer monitors, and my budget limit is $100 per week. Does Haywood Hub have what I am looking for? Also, I see from your Web site that you offer parking. Could you let me know how much you charge for it, and also whether the parking area is enclosed? I hope to hear from you very soon.

Dear Ms. Sullivan,
I apologize for the difficulty you experienced while calling us. There was a phone service outage across our area this morning due to a tree branch having fallen on a phone line. Luckily, the issue was handled quickly.
As for your inquiries, I am pleased to tell you that we currently have suitable spaces open on our second floor for $96 per week, inclusive of the charge for the computer accessories you require. The parking fee will be waived if you pay by the week or month, and though our parking area is not enclosed, most of the spaces are covered by shade canopies.
While we do allow walk-ins, it is best to book a space ahead of time to ensure that one will be available. You can respond to this e-mail or call me directly at extension 3 from our main line in order to do this. I am also happy to answer any further questions you might have.

VOLUNTEERING AT A GREEN RUN

One reason for the growing popularity of Green Runs all over the world is that participation in this weekly outdoor running event isn’t limited to joggers.
People able to walk a Green Run course can volunteer to set out the course markers beforehand, take them down afterwards, or help by “tail-walking”—walking after the last runner to ensure that no one is left behind on the course. Those who can only sit may act as course marshals, directing the runners at some of the course’s major turns. And people handy with technology are needed to stand at the finish line and, with the help of the Green Run smartphone app, record finish times or scan runners’ participation barcodes.
To get started as a volunteer, send an e-mail to your local event coordinator. All volunteers will be required to create a Green Run membership here before assisting with their first event and must be reachable by mobile phone on the day of the event.

How was last Saturday’s Green Run? I’m sorry I missed it—I sprained my knee while helping a friend move the day before. Actually, I won’t be able to run again for a few weeks.
