After four years at Hardar Plaza, the East City Farmers Market has returned to its old site at Courtway Square, where it began its operations nearly 15 years ago. Attendance has been “steadily increasing,” said market organizer Linda Lee. —[1]—.
“A lot of residential construction took place around Courtway Square in the years the market was gone,” Ms. Lee said. “This development has brought in more customers.” The market operates every Saturday from May to November, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. —[2]—. Visitor numbers can vary on a given day, but its overall attendance from June to August was up 27% from last year. On one sunny day in August, a record of 600 people visited the market. —[3]—.
Organizers have received “encouraging” feedback so far. “Visitors are really pleased with the market’s outdoor patio, which offers plenty of places to sit down in the shade,” Ms. Lee said. She noted, though, that organizers are “actively” addressing the issue of parking shortages. Street parking is often scarce around Court Street, where the market begins. —[4]—.
Although the market has no Web site of its own, it is listed on the neighborhood’s site, www.courtway-sq.com. | 158. What is mentioned about the East City Farmers Market? 159. From: Office Manager To: All staff Subject: Break Room Renovations and Procedures Date: May 22
This message is to alert you that the second floor break room will undergo renovations starting on Monday, May 29. These renovations are scheduled to take five days and will involve the installation of deluxe flooring and modern countertops, and the replacement of the sink, microwave, and refrigerator.
To prepare the room, please remove anything that you’ve been storing in the refrigerator. Anything left behind will be discarded on Friday, May 26. During construction, employees will be able to store their lunches in the refrigerator on the fifth floor, but please note that space will be limited.
As a reminder, these are the break room policies: • All food that is stored in the refrigerator must be labeled with the owner’s name and the date. • Everyone is responsible for throwing out his or her own trash or expired food. • However, each department should designate a break room representative who will be responsible for enforcing this policy. • The inside of the microwave must be wiped thoroughly with a cleaning agent after use. • No dirty dishes should be left in the sink. • Any dishes that you’ve washed should be taken out of the drying rack at the end of the day. • The sink should be wiped thoroughly after use. Note: This is a new policy.
We hope that everyone will enjoy the new facility and that these policies will keep it clean and useful for years to come. | 161. What is one topic of the memo? 162. What will happen on May 26? 163. Comments and questions about Kendell Park Week of May 27
A survey carried out last month by the Kendell Park Action Committee (KPAC) shows that nearly 85% of respondents are satisfied with Kendell Park’s amenities. “There’s more good news,” said KPAC director Ed Markson. “We hired a private vendor to install folding umbrellas on the park’s picnic tables, and that work will be finished next week.”
Work to repair cracks in the park’s decorative sculptures and circular fountain will be complete by late July, Markson added. The memorial plaque honoring the fountain's original donor, Jim Landers, is also being restored and will be remounted on its base. —[1]—.
Meanwhile, Friends of Kendell Park (FKP) chairperson Karen Bigsby has voiced concerns that the pond’s water level may be “too low” to support a balanced ecosystem. To address this issue, KPAC is currently consulting with Tina Vecchio, a life scientist at the park’s Nature Center. “She will make the ultimate decision about shutting down access to the park’s meadow section to pump water into the pond,” Markson said. In the event of such a closure, the meadow would be fenced off. —[2]—.
In other news, KPAC wants to thank everyone who helped make last Saturday’s Cleanup Day a big success. Volunteers set out on the park’s network of hiking paths and spent the day removing low-lying tree limbs and trimming weeds. —[3]—.
Finally, we are happy to report about our upgraded waste management program. New green trash containers have been placed in convenient locations throughout the park. —[4]—.
We thank you for your help in keeping the park clean. | 165. What did KPAC most likely do recently? 166. What part of the park is NOT mentioned on the Web page? 167. I agree with the majority of the other reviewers. This is a good hotel at a low price, and it has clean rooms, fast wireless Internet connection, a friendly staff, great toiletries, and a delicious (free!) breakfast. It is located near the restaurant district of Old Street. Many tourist attractions and historical landmarks are within walking distance, and the staff is happy to provide you with maps and directions. The front desk staff was very helpful in arranging tours and activities. I am giving the hotel four stars instead of five for one reason: It is NOT quiet. The noise from nearby construction woke me up several times early in the morning. Now, I know that the hotel staff can’t control construction, but I would have appreciated knowing about it ahead of time. At least I would have been able to request a room on the opposite side! Welcome to Denmeld Park Connected to Denmeld City on the south, Denmeld Park offers miles of scenic paths, including these color-coded trails:
Blue - This easy, flat trail goes in a clockwise loop starting at the park's north parking lot and concludes at The Colored Patch, the park’s wildflower meadows.
Red - This challenging trail features sharp, intermittent changes in elevation. It crosses the bridge overlooking Denmeld Pond and ends at the picnic areas in The Green Mall.
Green - This walking trail (no bikes allowed) begins at the park's east parking lot and ends at The Central Hub’s outdoor fitness equipment.
The Yellow Trail - Beginning in a wooded section of The Lalton Valley, a nature area featuring a small stream, this trail finishes at Hegdon Road. A full-service bicycle store is located near this western terminus. | Denmeld Park Trail Reviews By: Greg Blount Submitted on: August 2
I am a long-time Denmeld City resident, but it wasn’t until last month, that I used Denmeld Park. I really enjoyed my bike ride on the steep, hilly trail, although it was quite crowded on the bridge because of people fishing at the pond. I was also surprised to learn about the full-service bike shop near one end of the park. Overall, I definitely plan to explore this park again! | To: PUAC members From: Ann Harmon Date: August 19 Subject: Survey
Dear members, I just want to follow up on our park users’ survey results. One recurring comment is that visitors do not know that there is a bike shop at the end of one of our most popular trails.
Along these lines, I will visit the trail this Saturday, and inspect the area around its starting point to determine the impact of informational signs about the shop. Please join me if you can.
I plan to review the signage issue in detail at our Tuesday evening meeting, so we will have a lot of ground to cover then. Many thanks for your ongoing involvement with the Park Upgrade Advisory Committee (PUAC).

Dear team members, I have learned from Tom Chambers at Appeley Studio that our Web site’s description of the deluxe wooden computer desk (SKU#122) has an inaccuracy. Because of a production issue, the brown and cherry color options are not currently available. There is, however, an appealing white option.
